Our Fees

We are not a bulk-billing practice, and there is an out-of-pocket gap per 50-minute session (under $100). An additional $10 fee applies for weekend appointments.

All clinicians (except provisional psychologists) are registered to provide Medicare rebates with a valid referral from a GP, paediatrician, or psychiatrist. All clinicians can make claims under eligible Private Health Insurance and the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

  • Clinical Psychologist: $235

  • Psychologist: $200

  • Provisional Psychologist: $110

The Australian Psychological Society (APS) recommends a standard session length of 46–60 minutes, with a fee of $311 for psychological services.

Payments and Rebates

The full session fee is payable at the end of each appointment by credit card or EFTPOS. Medicare and Private Health Insurance rebates can be claimed and processed at the point of sale. Medicare requires full payment of the consultation fee upfront, with the rebate then refunded directly into your bank account. Private Health Insurance rebates are processed by paying the gap only. Invoices are available for some NDIS plans.

Medicare and Private Health Funds

With a referral from your GP, paediatrician, or psychiatrist, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate. Medicare offers a range of plans, so please speak with your referrer about which option is best for you.

Rebates (per 50+ minute session) for Mental Health Care Plans are set at:

  • $145.25 for a Clinical Psychologist

  • $98.95 for a Psychologist

Under a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP), your referrer may initially refer you for six sessions, with the option to return for a review and receive a further four sessions. This makes a total of 10 sessions per calendar year, including parent sessions. Under an MHCP, you are also eligible for 10 group sessions per calendar year. Most GPs will require a longer appointment to prepare a Mental Health Care Plan.

Please contact your GP to discuss eligibility for you and/or your child.

Medicare: Chronic Disease Management Plan (Enhanced Primary Care Plan) and Rebates

2025 rebates for Chronic Disease Management Plans are set at:

  • $61.80 for up to 5 sessions per calendar year

Your GP will discuss how many sessions they are referring you for and the reasons for the referral. Generally, this plan is used to see more than one allied health or medical practitioner and is aimed at assessing and planning interventions for more complex needs.

Medicare also provides a range of additional plans with rebates:

  • Eating Disorder Plan (EDP)

  • Helping Children with Autism Initiative

  • Better Start Disability

Please note that Medicare rebates are only available for therapy under the Better Access program. Psychological reports, family therapy, and non-attendance fees are not covered.

Private Health Funds

Private Health Insurance options are available to both Australian residents and overseas students. If you have private health insurance, you may be eligible to claim rebates for sessions with a psychologist. Private health typically covers both in-person and online therapy sessions, including individual sessions, parent support, and family therapy. Your Private Health Insurance rebate will depend on your level of cover. Each fund has its own terms and conditions regarding eligibility for psychology sessions. Most plans with “Extras” cover psychology, but it is important to check with your insurer first.

Your First Session at Liza's Place

At Liza's Place, we aim to understand your unique experiences and how they have impacted you. The initial phase of treatment focuses on getting to know you, including your strengths and challenges. We also value the role of your support network and are happy to speak with your parents and educators, where appropriate.

Many parents prefer to have some time one-on-one with the psychologist to discuss their concerns openly. If you're comfortable sharing these concerns with your child or teen present, your psychologist is happy to conduct the session together. We refer to this initial process as a mental health assessment.

Once the assessment is complete, we’ll discuss the treatment options we believe will be most helpful and provide you with a treatment plan and additional recommendations.

From there, we can begin the treatment journey together - with you and your supports involved every step of the way.

Cancellations

We understand that life can get busy and it can be difficult to keep track of appointments and commitments.

However, missed appointments without prior notice disadvantage other clients who could have benefitted from that time.

Please provide at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice will incur a fee equal to 100% of the consultation fee. Cancellations made with 24 - 48 hours’ notice will incur a 50% fee. These fees are not eligible for Medicare rebates.

As a courtesy, we send an SMS reminder a few days before your appointment. However, as technology is not always reliable, it is your responsibility to keep track of your session details.
